Revheads, a brand that officially came to life in 2023 as a brick-and-mortar store, is far more than just a business venture. It represents decades of passion, craftsmanship, and a deep-rooted love for cars—instilled by a father who passed down invaluable life lessons. Although the store’s doors have only recently opened, the concept behind Revheads dates back to the mid-1980s, when my world revolved around two things: cars and my dad, affectionately known as “Pops.” His influence laid the foundation for what would eventually become Revheads, a business built on family memories, shared passion, and a commitment to excellence.
A Father’s Lessons: The Foundation of a Lifelong Passion
Growing up, my time with Pops was often spent in the garage, where he worked tirelessly on cars. He wasn’t just fixing vehicles; he was giving them new life. Every weekend, I’d watch him fine-tune engines, meticulously adjust carburetors, and transform rusted, lifeless metal into fully functional machines. It wasn’t long before he began passing that knowledge on to me.
Whenever we drove around town, Pops would challenge me: “Boy, can you tell me what kind of ride that is?” Over time, I learned to recognize makes, models, and years of vehicles, just by looking at them. These weren’t just casual car rides; they were lessons that shaped my understanding and deepened my love for the automotive world.
The Old Mazda Truck: A Life-Changing Project
One of my most cherished memories is the day Pops handed me the keys to an old Mazda truck that had been sitting unused in the garage. I was nearly 16, and Pops looked at me with a grin and said, “Boy, if you can get that truck running, it’s yours.” That single sentence ignited a fire in me.
With Pops by my side, I dove into the challenge. We scoured junkyards for parts, spent countless hours working under the hood, and, after a lot of hard work, I got that truck up and running. That experience was more than just a rite of passage—it was the beginning of a lifelong passion for restoring cars and solving mechanical puzzles.
From Construction to Cars: A Shift in Career
As I grew older, I found myself working in the construction industry, initially pursuing a career as an electrician. For 18 years, I took pride in my work, appreciating the sense of accomplishment that came with completing a tough job. Pops and I remained close throughout those years, continuing to bond over our shared love for cars. However, in December 2016, my world was turned upside down when Pops passed away unexpectedly.
His loss left a void in my life, and even my career started to feel less fulfilling. I knew I needed a change. In 2018, my wife and I made a bold move, relocating from St. Louis to Las Vegas in search of a fresh start. While searching for jobs in construction, I couldn’t shake my love for cars and began to explore the idea of turning that passion into a career.
A New Opportunity: Stepping into the World of Classic Cars
Shortly after moving to Las Vegas, I stumbled upon an opportunity that would change everything—a job opening at the world’s largest classic car consignment dealership. Despite having no formal experience in sales, I took a chance and applied. To my surprise, they saw potential in me, and I was hired. Working in a showroom filled with classic cars rekindled the excitement I had felt as a kid in Pops’ garage.
After six months, I was offered a transfer back to St. Louis to work at the dealership’s corporate location. The return home was a welcome change, and not long after, I was promoted to Showroom Manager. Under my leadership, the dealership’s profits soared, regularly exceeding $100,000 a month. But despite the success, I grew increasingly disillusioned with management’s focus on profit over customer respect. I knew it was time for a change.
Honoring Pops: The Birth of Revheads
Leaving that dealership was a pivotal moment. I was finally ready to create something of my own, something that aligned with my values and honored the legacy of Pops. In 2023, I opened Revheads, a business that reflects the lessons Pops taught me—meticulous craftsmanship, honesty, and a passion for doing things right.
Revheads is more than just a car dealership; it’s a place where history, passion, and craftsmanship meet. Each vehicle we work on is a nod to the countless hours Pops and I spent together in the garage, and every car that leaves our doors represents a story, a connection to the past, and a love for the open road.
Building a Community of Car Enthusiasts
Revheads isn’t just a business—it’s a community. We’re creating a space where car enthusiasts can come together, celebrate their love for classic and performance vehicles, and share stories that remind us of why we fell in love with cars in the first place. We aren’t just selling vehicles; we’re offering a lifestyle, a piece of history, and an invitation to be part of something bigger.
Our vision for Revheads extends beyond sales. We plan to host events, collaborate with fellow car lovers, and provide restoration workshops. We want to build a hub for the automotive community, a place where enthusiasts can learn, grow, and revel in their shared passion for cars.
Carrying Forward a Legacy
Revheads is more than a business; it’s the realization of a dream born in Pops’ garage. Every car we restore and every customer we serve reminds me of the times I spent learning from my father. His lessons are woven into every aspect of Revheads, from the way we treat our customers to the attention to detail in our restorations.
As Revheads continues to grow, I am deeply honored to carry forward Pops’ legacy, sharing our love for cars with the next generation of enthusiasts. His words still echo in my mind: “Boy, look at that badass ride.” At Revheads, I’m proud to continue that tradition, one classic car at a time.
In every vehicle we bring back to life, every story we hear, and every bond we form with our customers, we are honoring Pops’ legacy—ensuring that his passion for cars and craftsmanship lives on for generations to come
